How much should I weigh for my height?

weightloss success story of jini I worked with various clients but Jini’s story of weight loss success story is an exceptional case study for me. She came to me for consultation after a shattering revelation that she could not get into her favorite dress anymore!!

Within first few minutes of conversation she asked me five times, “Am I overweight for my height?

Do you think it’ll take more than a month to get rid of my belly fat?”

She said that she tried few weight loss procedures that were advertised in women’s magazines and prime time TV shows, but the result was not satisfactory.

After few failures with various diets, she tried circuit training at a local gym. Gym training without proper supervision was not effective and she actually got a bad back pain.

Jini told she is working as a VP-operation with Acenture, a reputed global consultancy company. She is 35 years old and has one daughter. Her husband has his own business.

Her schedule starts early morning in preparing break fasts for her family and preparing her daughter for school. She drives almost 12 miles to reach office in the morning. On an average she works 10 hours per day in office.

Jini said she normally takes coffee 5 to 6 times a day with sugar and cream. But drinks a few cup more if the work is too stressful.

In reply to my question “How do you cope with stress due to work pressure?” she said normally she and her colleagues go to adjacent fast food joint to have some snacks and soft drinks because the atmosphere over there helps her to relax.

While conversing with her I realized that she hardly walks one km a day and she even suffers from sleep disorder, mood swings and breathlessness while climbing stairs.

Actually she lives a highly sedentary and stressful life.

The first thing I did was to separate illusion and reality. “The first step to solving your weight problem”, I said, “is to find out the root cause for obesity.” I made it clear that trying to be like Angelina Jolie, Anna Kournikova and Scarlett Johansson is neither necessary nor desirable.

Being a healthy kind of slim is the best.

Secondly, it is fat, not weight which is causing the problem.

Having taken Jini’s measurements, I found that she is overweight.
